Registration IS open for PCAOCR's first Driver's Ed FOR 2016

Chuckwalla
Desert Center, CA (east of Palm Springs)

MONDAY
MAY 30TH.

ALL DRIVERS, ALL CARS ARE WELCOME, Instructors (provided by OCR) may be required for drivers with less than 4 AX and/or Driving School Events.

Run groups will be assigned based upon experience, with one group designated for novices with little to no experience (and includes classroom time and instruction). Those with no prior performance driving experience and those who may have attended a Performance Driving School or have Autocrossed but have not yet driven on a purpose-built track are especially encouraged to attend. Chuckwalla is the newest and most popular track we travel to and has every type of turn imaginable, perfect for learning and practicing car control.

Novice DE driver space is limited and based upon Instructor availability – first come, first served. Student spots are expected to be in especially high demand. This is our first track event in For 2016, so high demand is expected.

More info and registration are available now at http://www.motorsportreg.com/events/pca ... ast-767405. Please be sure to carefully read everything on the site prior to signing up to improve your chances of securing a spot.

NEW HELMET RULES EXTENDED FOR 2016!

Snell 2005 Helmet Expiration Extended to January 01, 2017
Hello fellow DE drivers and enthusiasts. As you may know, Club Racing recently sent the following email to their licensed drivers:

If your Snell SA2005 helmet is still in good condition and you wish to do so, you may continue to use it in PCA Club Racing up to January 1, 2017. While the June 1 expiration has worked well for the past several Snell cycles, for various reasons some manufacturers are slower than in the past about getting all their models in all sizes on the market. There is no overall shortage of helmets with the latest Snell rating, but helmet fit is very important and varies with individual head shapes, and preference for make and model is important to many racers as well. The Snell Foundation recommends that helmets be replaced every five years, and racers with Snell SA2005 helmets should take that into consideration when deciding if they should purchase one of the many Snell SA2015 helmets available now or as the one they want becomes available, or change to a helmet of a different manufacturer or model which is available.

Your PCA Drivers Education Committee will also amend our rules to allow drivers time to update their helmets. We will allow the use of Snell 2005 Helmets until January 01, 2017. On that date, we will require all drivers to have a Snell 2010 or Snell 2015.
Thank you and have a great 2016!
